I have done some calculations to understand myself what is bandwidth.
For example: 1.5mbps means 1.5 mega bits per second 1.5 * 1024 *1024 bits per second as we know 1K = 1024Byt and 1M=1024K
We get 1572864 now these are bits remember 8bits = 1byte so divide by 8 we get 196608bytes…
So this is the exact amount of Data Volume a device operating at 1.5mbps should be able to transmit or receive in one second time in theory provided if there is no error

Now see what 40 GB volume means is
40GB = 40 * 1024 * 1024 *1024 = 42949672960 bytes

We have 60 * 60 * 24 *30 = 2592000 seconds in one month of 30 days
As 60 sec = 1 min, and 60 min = 1 hour, and 24 hr = 1 day
and about 30day = 1 month

All above means
If I have 1.5mbps connection (as speed is always in bits not bytes) and constantly downloading for a period of 30 days without stopping
How much data in bytes I should get?
Simply 2592000 seconds * 196608 bytes in 1second = 509,607,936,000 bytes
Means you get about 474.609375 GB of data

NOTE: data transmitted or received over a connection is less than the useful / required data
i-e. Protocol overhead + retransmission errors

Now compare with volume of 40GB = 42949672960 clearly 474.61 – 40 = 437 GB
We get 40GB < 474GB that is approximately 0.085 of the actual should be

Why is it not a problem?

In theory above I will be out of volume in 2.5 days but practically things are different I don’t get accurate speed all times it keeps going up and down so I get less speed than theory and less volume is consumed and it does not finish 2.5 days it goes up to about 20-22 days because I am not always getting data some time connection is idle and sometime you its uploading instead of downloading in both cases my demand decrease and another big factor is I can not sit in front of Computer all the time in 30days and keep it busy.

So virtually they say it’s ENDLESS however there is a hidden corner in this stuff a friend of mine had a real bad experience. The Vendor when he sold connection he said it 25GB Volume and upon each submission of Full payment you will get another 25GB. He asked him what about overuse he said well your volume will be RESETED to 25GB on each 1st of the next month so He was satisfied and started using it. But after 2nd month he got his account locked on about say 28th of the month so he called the vendor about problem they said ok it will start in 5 minutes and it started. NEXT month it stopped working at 22nd and again he called helpline and things started working, this practice worked for 4 more months each month earlier than previous date. He got very worried and started inspecting things and he found that the vendor was tricking him by just unlocking the account and adding 25GB Volume so on each overuse him way paying for it. things were only disclosed after he had some trouble with connection he finally decided to cancel the account for that reason he consulted the vendor and he was astonished to see that no matter he had been paying full and timely payment there were still about 20000 unpaid amount. So a whole new dispute arose. How he settled I don’t know but this happens and everybody makes mistakes but don’t tell others due to shame and ego. If people would have shared accidents and mistakes the world could have been much better place.

However, after quite detailed market survey vendors that sell volume based packages have something hidden that must be found prior to purchase.

In case of this volume based offer (no offence to anybody) but fact is that you will get overused many times in a month which you will be paying next payment. Same is the case with wireless GPRS I have found that mobile operator’s unlimited users are given a volume of 2GB any overuse is deducted in form of very small amounts on each phone call and is adjusted with the next payment. Because you have to trust them and you have no way to verify that.

REMEMBER NOTHING COMES FREE and there is nothing Like UNLIMITED.
and Vendors always have Upper hand in consumers’ pocket no matter which vendors it is and which country you are in

So spend wisely and choose more wisely don’t get inspired by the hype of fashion and trend and see what fits you.
